Nuwara Eliya to Ella by train

While on your city tour you will visit on one the world heritage as well as a sacred place for the Buddhists all over the world, namely the Temple of the Tooth Relic known to the Sri Lanka as Dalada Maligawa. Nuwara Eliya (city of lights),blessed with salubrious climate, breathtaking views of valleys, meadows, mountains and greenery, Surrounded by hills and tea plantations, the town of Nuwara Eliya enjoys spring-like weather throughout the year. It is known as “LITTLE ENGLAND” which was the favorite hill station of the British who tried to create Nuwara Eliya into a typical English Village.

During the city tour you will visit the main attractions of the town witch include the golf course, Victoria park and boating or fishing on the Lake Gregory. You can also add Seetha Eliya and Haggala Gardens. Seetha Eliya is a temple which was mentioned in the famous epic Ramayana.

Trincomalee

Trincomalee has one of the world’s finest natural harbor. It is the first largest in the world. Nilaveli is a small village 10 km north of Trincomalee, where the beaches are quite superb, with soft white sand and calm seas during April to October season when rainfall is much lower than in the southwest. The PIGEON ISLAND is a great place for snorkeling around the colorful coral reefs, diving and fishing.

Anuradhapura is a major city in Sri Lanka. It is the capital city of North Central Province, Sri Lanka and the capital of Anuradhapura District. Anuradhapura is one of the ancient capitals of Sri Lanka, famous for its well-preserved ruins of ancient Sri Lankan civilization. It was the third capital of the Kingdom of Rajarata, following the kingdoms of Tambapanni and Upatissa Nuwara.

The Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage was set up in 1975 to provide care for young elephant that had been orphaned due to poaching and would otherwise have faced certain death. Located 80 km from Colombo. Pinnawala is one of the foreigners’ most popular attractions. Volunteers and caretakers provide shelter and take care of orphaned abandoned and injured elephants within the park. You can watch caretakers feed, bathe and help these gentle giants. You want walk with the herd to the nearby river to watch the elephant bathe and play around in water.

One of the most beautiful and largest cave temples in Sri Lanka is the GOLDEN CAVE TEMPLE in Dambulla, situated 20km southwest of Sigiriya. In 1991 the Golden temple was designated a world heritage site by UNESCO. The caves history dates back to 103 BC.

Nwara Eliya is the capital of the hill country which call LITTLE ENGLAND. The British discovered Nuwara Eliya in the 19th century. They thought its climate was ideal, and so decided to use it as a place to retreat from the heat and dust of Colombo. Sri Lanka highest town with temperatures averaging 14 C throughout the year.

One of most famous attractions in Sri Lanka. Overlooking the Kandy lake with its golden roof, is the temple of the tooth, SRI DALADA MALIGAWA. The Kandy city is a charming combination of valleys, rivers, lakes and water falls. It stands one of the most important symbols of Sinhalese national identity. Kandy was 2nd largest city in Sri Lanka, located 490 meters above sea level and is therefore not as hot or humid as other parts of the Island. It is also famous for its immense beauty and is named as one of the seven UNESCO declared world heritage sites in the country.


Galle

A Portuguese fleet first landed in Galle in 1505 after taking shelter in the harbor when their ship was blown off course. Gradually they developed trading links with the island. In 1589 they build a small fort in Galle to guard the harbor and named it SANTA CRUZ. Galle was a major port in Sri Lanka until around 1875, when maritime trade was diverted to Colombo. This well preserved fort remains a “living” monument with a thriving community within and one of the eight UNESCO world heritage sites found in Sri Lanka.


Yala / Udawalawe

Covering an area 1300 sq. /km Yale National Park is the biggest and most visited wildlife sanctuary in Sri Lanka, ideal for viewing the islands natural treasures. With a diversity of habitats, including dense jungle, plains, streams, lagoons and rocky outcrops, the terrain is extremely suitable for Sri Lanka’s leopard, Yala’s star attraction. Other animals found in Yala include elephants, sloth bear, crocodile, monkey, buffalo, wild boar, deer, land and water monitor, mongoose and jackal. There are about 150 different species of birds can see. The best time to see Yala’s wildlife is either at dawn or dusk. Safaris start at 6am and 3pm.


Colombo

Colombo, Sri Lanka‘s bustling commercial hub, is located on the country’s west coast and with a population of between 800,000 and one million (estimates vary) is by far the country’s biggest city, as well as the most developed. Its natural harbour at the mouth of the Kelani River was a magnet for successive traders and conquerors – initially the Arab merchants, then Portuguese, Dutch and British imperialists.


Hikkaduwa

Hikkaduwa is a charming little fishing village located 32km south of Bentota and 88 km from Colombo. Popularized by young travelers in the 1960s Hikkaduwa is now very busy tourist resorts a couple of miles long, with bars fast foods and discotheques that all come alive after dark. Hikkaduwa main attraction is the colorful coral reef situated a short distance from the shore, populated with exotic fish and turtles.
